The most beautiful castle of Roero is located in the high town of Monticello and complies with all the classic features of the medieval fortress, including the refuge and the park (by the famous architect Kurten) which complete the fairytale iconography of the place. Inside, however, the rooms were decorated and remodelled in the eighteenth century with a beautiful gallery of armour and a sumptuous hall of portraits. The castle, owned by the Roero family for 600 years, is open to visitors.

Magliano Alfieri

The Baroque castle of Magliano Alfieri was the summer residence of the famous Asti poet Vittorio Alfieri, celebrated tragedian and truly ahead of his time. The Ghibelline family of the Alfieri is often cited in the history of Asti, from the medieval chronicler Ogerio and the exuberant Baroque architect Benedetto up to our distinguished tragedian. Today in the beautiful palace one finds the Museum of Plaster, an elegant restaurant and beautiful landscaped gardens with panoramic views from Roero across the Langhe and the Asti Monferrato.

Splendid Savoy residence preferred by Carlo Felice (who bought it from the Alfieri) with a majestic staircase and an equally impressive central hall, Govone is notable for the refinement of its Chinese rooms and for its beautiful park with unmissable spring blooms of roses. An elegant restaurant is housed in the ancient granaries.
